What Is Travertine Classico Roma?
Travertine Classico Roma is a classic Italian travertine formed over millennia by mineral-rich hot springs. Quarried in central Italy, it is distinguished by a warm beige base, subtle off-brown veining, and gentle horizontal wave patterns. Unlike marble, which forms under pressure deep underground, travertine is deposited at the surface by flowing water — a process that leaves characteristic pores and gives the stone its tactile, living quality. It is the same stone family that clad Roman baths and villas, which makes it one of the most historically grounded materials a designer can specify today.

Appearance & Character
The stone reads as warm rather than cool, with amber undertones that sit comfortably beside oak, walnut, linen, and aged brass. Veining is predominantly horizontal and soft rather than dramatic — more "ripples on water" than "lightning strike." This makes Classico Roma particularly well suited to Japandi interiors, Wabi-Sabi spaces, Modern Mediterranean villas, and Nordic Natural designs where calm, texture, and authenticity matter more than high contrast.

Before You Buy: Key Decisions
Before requesting a quote, four decisions will shape both the look of your project and its price: filled vs unfilled, finish, format, and grade/selection. Filled travertine has its pores factory-filled with matching resin or cement, producing a smooth surface that is easier to clean — the standard choice for kitchen countertops and bathroom floors. Unfilled travertine leaves the pores open, celebrating the stone's natural texture; it is most often used on feature walls and low-traffic decorative areas.
Finish Options
Honed is the most versatile finish: smooth, matte, and resistant to water spotting — ideal for floors, showers, vanities, and countertops. Brushed introduces a subtle textured surface that enhances slip resistance around pools and in wet areas. Polished travertine deepens the amber tones but is less common because the filled pores can become more visible. Tumbled produces soft, aged edges for classic patios, pool copings, and French-pattern pavers.

Price Range & What Drives Cost
Travertine Classico Roma sits in the inexpensive-to-mid tier of natural stone, with pricing starting from around ¥400 per square meter for standard filled-and-honed slabs or tiles. Several factors move the price up or down: slab size and thickness (3cm costs more than 2cm), finish (polished and CNC-fabricated pieces command a premium), fill quality (color-matched epoxy resin fills cost more than cement fills), selection consistency (hand-selected block lots for premium projects), and fabrication complexity (edge profiles, sink cut-outs, waterfall panels, and curved pool copings all add labor).
The dual advantage of buying through Apexstone is that you combine Italian quarry heritage with Chinese manufacturing efficiency. Blocks are sourced directly from Italy, but cutting, filling, honing, polishing, cut-to-size fabrication, and CNC work are carried out in our integrated Shuitou factory under a single quality system. The result is authentic Italian travertine at a substantially lower landed cost than buying fully fabricated material in Europe, without sacrificing the consistency that project work demands.

Where It Works: Applications
Travertine Classico Roma is unusually versatile across interior and exterior applications. In the home it appears as kitchen countertops and waterfall islands, bathroom vanities and shower walls, living-room floors and feature walls, and even solid furniture pieces such as coffee tables and vanity tops. Outdoors it is one of the world's most established pool-coping and decking materials because it stays cool underfoot and offers natural slip resistance. It also makes elegant driveway pavers, garden pathways, and patio stone in 3cm thickness.

Maintenance & Longevity
Travertine is durable but requires sensible care. Seal interior surfaces annually with a penetrating sealer designed for natural stone; outdoor installations may need sealing every two to three years depending on climate and exposure. Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaners — never vinegar, bleach, or abrasive creams. Use cutting boards and trivets in kitchens, and do not place hairdryers or heated styling tools directly on vanity tops. With basic care, a travertine floor or countertop will last for generations and develop a gentle patina that many owners prefer over the factory-new look.

Why Source Through Apexstone
Apexstone combines two decades of stone export experience with integrated manufacturing in Shuitou, China's largest stone trading hub. We source blocks directly from Italian quarries, then fill, hone, polish, cut, and fabricate in our own facility. This gives us control over quality at every step, allows low minimum order quantities for smaller projects, and scales to thousands of square meters for hotels, resorts, and multi-family developments. Each shipment is inspected for fissures, fill integrity, dimensional accuracy, and color consistency, and packed in fumigated crates suitable for ocean freight.
