Quartzite Countertops

Quartzite closes the gap between appearance and performance that forces buyers to choose between marble countertop slabs and harder stone. It is a dense siliceous stone rated around 7 on the Mohs scale, so acidic wine, citrus and vinegar wipe away without the etching marble develops, and it tolerates the heat of pans taken straight from the cooker. The visual is anything but utilitarian: warm beige, cream and ivory grounds carry fine crystalline veining that catches the light, reading as a luxury natural-stone kitchen rather than an engineered surface. Polished is the mainstream finish and saturates the colour; honed gives a softer sheen for a modern, quieter look. The material suits kitchen countertops and waterfall islands, and selected lighter varieties work for bathroom vanity tops. Compare it head to head with granite countertops when deciding the spec.

Our Taj Mahal quartzite is the reference for this range: a warm beige ground with golden-brown crystalline veining that gives a kitchen marble-like movement with granite-grade toughness. We fabricate standard runs in 2 cm with a laminated thick edge where a fuller look is wanted, and use 3 cm slab for waterfall legs and thick-edge profiles so the detail shows, cutting the horizontal top and vertical drop from the same block for continuous veining around the corner. Cut-to-size covers sink and cooktop cutouts, edge profiles and matching backsplashes. Because veining varies between blocks, multi-run kitchens are cut from one lot and laid out together before fabrication. As a natural stone it is sealed after fabrication; dense polished slabs typically need re-sealing every 1–2 years, honed finishes more often.
