Green Onyx solid sinks transform a functional bathroom element into a luminous focal point. Carved from Iranian onyx — a semi-precious stone prized for its green translucency and organic veining — each sink glows warmly when backlit, creating an atmosphere no manufactured material can replicate. Available as vessel sinks, undermount sinks, and integrated sinks, each piece is hand-carved and polished at our Shuitou factory. Pricing: ¥12,000-45,000 depending on type, size, and translucency grade.
The Translucency Advantage
Green Onyx's defining characteristic is its ability to transmit light. When installed above LED lighting or near natural light sources, the stone's surface emits a soft, warm glow — a feature impossible with marble, granite, or any engineered stone. This translucency varies by block: some pieces allow light to penetrate 15-20mm deep, while denser sections remain more opaque. We grade each block before carving to ensure consistent visual performance across your project.
Three sink configurations leverage this property differently. Vessel sinks (400-600mm diameter): the entire exterior surface becomes a light-diffusing canvas — ideal for powder rooms where dramatic first impressions matter. Undermount sinks (rectangular 500×400mm or oval 450×350mm): the glow emanates from beneath the countertop edge, creating a subtle ambient effect visible from above. Integrated sinks: carved from the same slab as the vanity top, the light flows seamlessly from counter surface into the basin — the most immersive onyx lighting experience. For projects requiring opaque stone with similar color warmth, Statuario Venato marble sinks offer a classic white alternative.
Fabrication Considerations
Onyx is softer and more brittle than marble (Mohs 3-4 vs. marble's 4-5), requiring specialized fabrication techniques. CNC routing handles the bulk material removal at controlled feed rates to prevent micro-fractures. Hand-finishing follows — interior bowls are progressively polished through 8 grits to achieve 80+ gloss units. The critical difference from marble: onyx requires epoxy resin impregnation before polishing to fill natural voids and strengthen the surface. This process, performed at our factory, ensures long-term durability without compromising translucency.
Drain and faucet specifications follow standard dimensions (45mm drain hole, faucet holes to your specification). We reinforce the area around drain openings with embedded stainless steel mesh — invisible from the surface but providing crack resistance at the highest-stress point. All sinks receive penetrating sealer on every surface before shipping.
Specifications & Ordering
Vessel sinks: round (350mm, 400mm, 500mm diameter × 120-180mm depth), rectangular (450×350mm, 600×400mm × 130mm). Undermount: rectangular (500×400×200mm, 600×450×200mm), oval (450×350×180mm). Integrated: custom dimensions matching your vanity design, typically 600-1200mm wide × 400-500mm deep × 200mm total thickness.
Translucency grading: Grade A (high translucency, uniform green color — premium pricing), Grade B (moderate translucency with natural color variation — standard pricing). We provide block photos under both natural and artificial lighting before production so you can select the exact material for your project. MOQ: 1 piece for standard sizes, 5 pieces for custom integrated configurations.
