Stone is the classic choice for the area immediately around a swimming pool. It handles constant water, pool chemicals and salt, it stays walkable under bare feet on hot days, and a non-slip textured finish gives grip even when the surface is wet.
Granite is the workhorse for pool paving and coping: hard, low-absorption and available in grey, black and buff tones that suit modern and resort-style pools; a flamed or bush-hammered finish gives the non-slip surface wet feet need. Bluestone is a perennial poolside favorite for its deep blue-grey color, and travertine and limestone offer a warmer, softer Mediterranean look. The coping stones along the waterline are cut with a bullnose or rolled edge for comfort and safety, and decking pavers are laid around the pool in matched sizes with drainage fall.
